Rewards and Fair Compensation

...So, I don't know about you, but I am digging the hot chocolate that we get in return for stuffing endless red mailer tubes.

Even if the chocolate puts me to sleep.

I also wish to say that wearing high heels is terrible, and I hope that it never becomes a habit or comfortable for me. Give me my Keds anyday.

And I don't mean to keep stealing Ashley's computer...but it's just so much faster than the one at my desk! Look at how much non-work I'm getting done!

Masterpiece

Look what I did! I call it... umm... I don't know.

Anyone wanna name it?

Great find, Jaclyn... I'm always up for new ways to avoid real work. Keep em coming...

Break.

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get a call from a friend, saying that the newly opened Long Center was holding a free sneak peek roster of spectacle and music performances. The rain cut the show short, but I saw enough of MASS Ensemble and their giant Earth Harp (seen above) to be supremely impressed. It was strung up all the way into the proscenium of the Long Center's architecture, and the acoustics were amazing. Check them out if you have some spare time.

Also, if you're really bored, get your inner-Jackson-Pollock on with this.

As far as SXSW goes, I might go to The Parish on Thursday night - Meiko is going to be there, and I'm willing to pay the arm-and-leg cover charge to see her. If anyone wants to accompany me, they are more than welcome.

Final note - being the only intern here over Spring Break suddenly means that I can handle all extraneous agency work?

Not so much.

CRAZY CANDY LADY FIGHTS BACK!

Yes, its true; I'll gladly admit I cannot defend my addiction even the slighest bit :) I get serious candy withdrawls if I am deprived of sugar longer than a couple of hours SO feel free to get your grubby little hands on some Peachy-O's or Now 'N Laters, but leave the last one for the crazy candy lady or beware :)

Peculiar Eating Habits

I'd just like to say that Lauren Harrington eats more candy than anyone I know. She always is eating gummies, Now N Laters, and countless other candies until she makes herself sick. So if you walk by her desk and see her eating candy (which she WILL be doing), make sure you take some off her hands so she doesn't get a tummy ache. That is all.

What a Weekend

I was officially a zombie yesterday, and a semi-zombie the day before that.

Blame Nam and an evening at Plush.

But now I am eating amazing food from Tapioca House, and am thoroughly re-energized!

Back to work!

Guy in the background

I like how the guy on the TV looks like he's part of the group pic, nice!

Assemble

Tocquigny should be proud. We're such well-behaved children.

Also, if you didn't select your best three shots from the Tocquigny photoshoot, be sure to do so and send them to Eddie. Not that they're guaranteed to be used...but trust me, you don't want the Creative team to pick out your photo for you.

Work hard. Play hard.

hello!

hi there :) So I am pretty sure I am the last one to post a blog on this thing... but better late then never right?!? Anyway, I have met most of yall and am looking forward to getting to know everyone even better. I am presently a senior at UT and am NOT looking forward to graduating; growing up is highly overrated! To anyone who is not a senior yet, I suggest staying in college for as long as humanly possible! In my free time I love to eat, drink a good glass of wine, be lazy and hang out with friends. I can be a bit scatterbrained so I apologize now for anything embarassing I might do or say :)

On a side note, happy hour the other night was great! We must repeat this as much as possible in my opinion. I think that Lisa and I are planning on attending happy hour tomorrow and hopefully some other interns will join us as well! It will be a fun time. Anyway, bye for now!

新年快樂!

Did anyone else get money for THEIR New Year's celebration?

Didn't think so.

One more year, and it'll be the Year of the Ox! REPRESENT.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually sort of anticipating the intern project for this semester. I'm hoping it'll be fun for us all and rewarding.

And if you haven't seen it yet, our first Intern picture is on the Flickr gallery of the Tocquigny website - go and look! We'll probably take another one right after our intern meeting next week, or before our next happy hour outing. Besides, all the employees with white papers and case studies are getting "special photos," so we've got to step up and keep our presence on the webpage strong. If anyone wants to just go ahead and take their own photo (you brave soul, you), go right ahead - if you want to know how to take the photo, just come and ask me.

Also, the Robot Party was pretty cool - Rusty, Anthony and I were the only interns there, but it was relaxed enough (and everyone was boozed up enough) that it wasn't awkward at all. So, you other interns, start coming to these events! Everything was on the Tocquigny tab, so the guys started ordering drinks non-stop. I only drank half of a hard lemonade with mint, and by the end of the evening, the ice had melted enough that it looked full again...sad. Then we went to Buffalo Billiards; it's always fun to watch people smack darts into the wall or sink the cue ball on accident.

Peace out. And Anthony, you're not allowed to steal my shoes anymore.

hi

Hi ya'll,

I'm Mallory. I am an advertising media student at UT, but am working as Yvonne's intern here at Tocquigny (she is great, and I suggest you come meet her if you get the chance). I love sports- watching and playing. favorite sports to play are volleyball and water polo (this one time a girl bit my arm during a game and hung on like i was a piece of meat- not appreciated.)

I am only 20 (thanks cody!) so I will try to attend as many outings that aren't '21-only' as i possibly can!

I sit nearish to rusty. acctually, i'm pretty confident I could throw something from my little space and hit him. lucky for rusty, he isn't here for me to test this little theory. anywho, the reason Im telling ya'll where my desk is, is so that you can stop by and talk to me any time. I work M(11-4), W(11-5), and F(11-3).

I can't juggle, but would love to learn (andrew, i'm talking to you). I CAN however jump over my own leg jump-rope style and say the alphabet backwards extremely fast.

Invasion!

So I've been taking a little peek through the new Tocquigny website (http://beta.tocquigny.com/ for those of you who haven't visited it yet), and the Flickr gallery of the office is missing something very very important...

...pictures of the interns!

This must be corrected. Who's with me?

Friday, February 1, 2008

Hello all,

I have been happy to meet some of you and look forward to meeting the rest soon. I think the Happy Hour idea was a great suggestion (not just because of the booze) and next Wednesday works perfect for me. So if anybody has any suggestions of near by places they just love to go to, don't be shy share them. Also, is anyone not 21 (sorry Mallory)?

Oh and the introduction stuff: I am currently at UT studying Advertising, huge footbal fan (Longhorns and Chicago Bears), done a little traveling outside of the US, belong to a fraternity Alpha Tau Omega, and I couldn't be more excited to start working along side all of you here at Tocquigny.

Hey Guys!
I have met some of you but not all because I missed the first day due to strep throat. Apparentlyyy you guys all went out for lunch yesterday and since I don't work on Thursdays... I was left out :(. SO, in regards to happy hour after work on Wednesday... I am so down. Also, I'm here until 1:30-5:30 MWF... I have no idea what "jabber" is... I will try to fish through all these e-mails and find the instructions. But, if you want to come help slash do it for me (Rusty)... I wont mind :)
Hope to meet all of you soon!

It was short..

Hey guys,

Even though we've only shared a short time together here at Tocquigny, it's really tough to leave you guys so suddenly. Denise and I strive to bring in interns that are intelligent, passionate, and dedicated as well social and can fit in the agency well. I think we've definitely succeeded with this group and it sucks that I won't be able to see you guys spend your time at this great agency. I hope that you will all take advantage of your time here at Tocquigny. You are working with some of the brightest minds that I have been lucky enough to meet and work with. Hope you all are able to learn and develop professionally as well as socially.

I will be checking into this blog from time to time ,so I hope this group can make it an active one for once. Have fun, be safe, and good luck.

Re: Rounding Everyone Up

The blog seems like a good way to round people up for events. Also, be sure everyone sets up Jabber, that's another good way to communicate. Josh sent out an email on Tuesday in regards to Jabber, and I sent out additional instructions today on how to get started in Windows. If anyone needs help, just let me know.

Intern Schedules / Happy Hour

Hey all,

I'm Larissa from Account Planning/Research... I won't talk about myself because I'm not very interesting :)
but I would like bring up two points of business:

1) Intern Schedules
I have placed our schedules here: G:\_Agency - Intern Folders\Spring '08
It's the excel sheet...
I encourage you all to print out a copy to post somewhere in your cubicle so you can stalk whomever you want...

2) Happy Hour
From the schedule it looks like Wednesdays are the best time to do happy hour... all but 3 of us get off at 5:00pm or later, so shall we try to meet after work next Wed afternoon?
For you veteran interns, please instruct us as to how to best plan, communicate, and round everyone up

Hello

What's up everyone? I'm the new media intern. Yup.

Alright, about me. I was born in San Antonio but grew up in southern California, in a city just east of LA. I went to UC Riverside my freshman year, but decided to come back to Texas and transfer to UT. UT > UCR. I graduate in May, so I'm pretty stoked.

I like to be active and meet people. I love going out on the lake when it's warm. I'm currently learning how to play acoustic guitar (I suck). I can juggle, but it's not really a cool talent. I played varsity tennis in high school. I like playing basketball. I'm a college sports fanatic. I've never been outside of the country - I've lived in Florida and traveled to NYC and Chicago. My first name is Roger, but I don't go by that. Kids used to call me "Mr. Rogers" in 4th grade, and I'm just now getting over that. I think Family Guy is hilarious, except for the old episodes and the ones that go "too far."

You'll probably see me at any Tocquigny events where interns are welcome. I was at Buffalo Billiards last night for a bit, and it was fun. Just for the record, Lisa crushed me in darts.

That's about it. Hope to meet all of you soon.

The wheels on the bus....

My name is Rusty Kocian, I'm a 22-year old Marketing Senior at the University of Texas, graduating in May. I work with Brian and Jason in the Interactive Marketing department near the foyer. My business interests vary, spanning strategic marketing, consultative sales, print and web design, entrepreneurship, and trends in interactive media.

I love to travel; I've been all over the US, but some of my favorite cities include Chicago, NYC, Seattle, and Atlanta. Mexico is also a cool destination for Texas travelers, and I've spent a week in Monterrey and a cruise to Cozumel (where, incidentally, I won $500 on the craps table). My biggest adventure was the summer I spent in Hong Kong on a B2B sales internship. But I hope this is just the beginning of my world tour.

In my spare time I love to read: I'm a Harry Potter fan, love mystery novels, and even take an interest in books on marketing. Independent films fancy my interest, and I highly recommend checking out the Austin Film Festival in September if you get the chance.

I'll be here all day Tuesday and Thursday, and in the afternoon on Fridays, so if you get the chance stop by and say hello.

PREPARE FOR GLORY

As the old-timer, it falls on me to make the obligatory "Welcome!" post.

...Especially since Andrew seems to have misplaced his log-in email and, therefore, his password. Way to go, Andrew.

So I guess we can all briefly introduce ourselves when this all gets sorted out. I'll start:

I'm Jaclyn. I graduated May 2007, and it's 85% likely I'm heading to Miami Ad School in San Francisco this summer...or maybe fate will intervene and I'll stick around here at Tocquigny. I like Japanese manga, movie trivia, and all kinds of music except for country. I used to drive an Acura Integra (stickshift/standard) until it met an untimely demise. I'm Chinese. No pets, no football, no drinking, no American Idol. But I do love me some House M.D. I'm a video game/RPG junkie, and my lifestyle can't support the habit. I was born and have lived in Austin all my life, but I travel a lot, too. And I sleep on my stomach with my face in the pillow - and no, I don't know how I survive to wake up every morning.

Final note: As per Andrew's dying wish--I mean, last request before he leaves, I'm going to try to keep this blog as active as possible by posting at least once a week. The content won't be profound or anything, but maybe it'll give this bit of dusty webspace some personality and exercise.

And at least you'll have something you might want to read when you're tired of work.

Hope to see some of you at Buffalo Billiard's tonight!

- J
